When you dissolve chlorine in hot tub water, it produces hypochlorous acid. This potent acid rapidly eliminates waterborne bacteria upon contact but gradually becomes less effective over time. Therefore, it’s essential to regularly monitor the chemical levels in your hot tub or swim spa.
How do I determine the right amount of chlorine to use?
Aim to maintain a consistent chlorine level between 3 to 5mg/l. The frequency of adding chlorine depends on your usage patterns and bathing habits, whether it’s a daily, bi-daily, or weekly routine. For every 1mg/l, add 2g per 1000 litres of water.
Pro Tip: 10ml is roughly equivalent to 10g.
