We had a call come in from a customer who has a 21-year-old Jacuzzi hot tub! Goes to show that if you buy well, you buy once! They could still use their Jacuzzi hot tub however they were experiencing an error code on the display and sometimes noticed the Jacuzzi hot tub wasn’t always up to the correct temperature. The code that was on display was ‘SN-1’.
Upon arrival the water in the Jacuzzi hot tub was visibly warm with steam leaving its surface and yes, the error code ‘SN-1’ was on the display. ‘SN-1’ is the code identifying that there is a problem with a sensor in the Jacuzzi hot tub. What was interesting was the number 7.2 followed the error code. So, the Jacuzzi hot tub has a problem with a sensor, and it thinks that the water is 7.2 degrees Celsius, but the water is visibly warm? Knowing this information, it leads me to believe there may be an issue with the Jacuzzi hot tubs temperature sensor.
So, after removing the cabinet and the cover for the control box I headed toward the temperature sensor. After turning off the power to the Jacuzzi hot tub and disconnecting the existing sensor and plugged in a new one. I popped the sensor over the side and into the water and turned the hot tub back on. Once revved back up the error code had been removed, and the hot tubs temperature was 39 degrees Celsius which highlights that the existing temperature sensor was at fault. With this knowledge I drained the tub into my reservoir, removed the existing sensor and installed the new one ensuring the seal was sat correctly. Filled the hot tub back up from the reservoir and made sure that the unit was still watertight.
To ensure that the heater and temperature sensor were working correctly I waited with the spa until it had heated by a degree or two and placed my clamp meter on the incoming to ensure it was all pulling the appropriate amperage. The Jacuzzi hot tub was back up and running, error code free and another happy customer in Market Drayton, Shropshire.
